What Is Your Job Taking Away From You?

panorama desde un globoImage by jesuscm via Flickr

I believe that too much respect is given to the almighty job. People treat having a job like having a huge lump of solid gold. But the truth is that I don’t believe having a job is really that great. Sure it gives you money and we all need that. But what else is it giving to you? Or perhaps a more important question would be how much is it taking away from you?

You say, “taking away from me… my job never took anything away from me”.

Oh but you would be wrong. Jobs are thieves and they take away much more than they actually give. Now I’m not saying that you should call your boss right now and tell him that you quit. However, I do think you should start thinking about a better alternative to a job. Something that will give you more money than your job right now and will never take away anything from you. Something called a home based business.

In case you’re still wondering what your job has taken from you let me give you a few examples.

Have you ever…

Missed your child’s school play?
Come home to a cold dinner because you had to work late?
Not been able to make it to family Christmas because of work?
Missed your son’s first little league game?
Not been able to pay for your daughters college?
Not taken a vacation with your spouse for over a year?
Driven a car that barely works because you can’t afford a new one?

If you answered yes to any of these your job HAS stolen something from you. Also, keep in mind that these are just a few examples. This list could literally go on and on and on….

I’m sure that if you really started thinking you could think of a whole lot more!

Why do we give jobs so much credit? And more importantly why do we let me rule our lives? What has your job stolen from you this year?

If you’re sick and tired of letting your job control your life get more information about starting a home based business. You can work when you want to, play when you want to, you’ll never have to miss another important even in your family’s lives again!

Is Paying To Post On Craigslist Really Worth It?

eros bendatoImage by jesuscm via Flickr

Back in the good old days you were able to post on the Craigslist job section for free. However, in almost all major cities it now costs $25.00 (or in some cities $50.00!!) to post a single ad in the job section. So is it worth it?

Before I even get to the question of whether it’s really worth it or not I just want to tell you that it personally drives me crazy when people post network marketing ads in this section. First of all the rules of Craigslist clearly state that you’re not suppose to so when people do it anyway that’s an issue of integrity.

Secondly, I don’t get why people want to turn a home based business opportunity into a job in the first place! Isn’t the entire point of a home based business that it’s nothing like a job!?

People need to decide for themselves whether they want a business or a job and if they are looking for a job I don’t think it’s right to trick people into calling or emailing only to find out that it’s an opportunity that they probably don’t want in the first place.

I believe that if home based business owners want to become more successful they need to start distinguishing the difference between a job and owning your own business and stop trying to convince people into something that they don’t really want.

There are so many people online looking for work at home opportunities why not go after them and leave the job seekers alone?

Ok, now that I’ve gotten off my soap box I’ll get to the point at hand.

Since I don’t know exactly what your monthly budget for marketing is I can’t say for certain whether it’s right for you. However, if you are like most internet marketers you don’t have a huge budget at least not in the beginning.

If that is the case I don’t believe paying $25 per ad is a very good deal at all! It’s good for businesses who maybe only have to post their ad once or twice but for a network marketer who may have to post again and again to get any real sign ups it is more than likely going to be a huge waste of money.

I mean just post your ad once a week and you’re spending $100 a month! That can really add up! I also know people who have used these ads and not gotten one sign up from Craigslist in a single month.

There are just too many great free methods of marketing online that make the idea of posting in the jobs section of Craigslist totally a bad deal. Stick with free stuff and you’ll be a lot more satisfied!

Attraction Marketing

WesterheverevehretseWImage by Der Ohlsen via Flickr

True to the current economic conditions, people have started to resort to different methods of marketing just so their business can withstand the current economic uncertainties. Several businesses have also discovered the benefits of going online instead of staying on the offline business world. These businesses have also stopped creating lots of marketing programs that do not work and has therefore created opportunities for them to find other creative ideas on how to make people buy their products. One good thing that they discovered is attraction marketing where instead of you making the utmost effort to convince people to buy you, you just exert effort to make sure that people understand your product then eventually purchase them.

So, how does attraction marketing differ from the conventional selling techniques?
Well it differs a lot. First thing that you may want to consider is by asking yourself, “What do you feel when people pressure you to buy something?” One of the most natural reactions is for you to resist the salesperson who is urging you to believe in what he wants. The more you push the more resistance you will get. So this strategy never works well and is a waste of time and effort. Only a few leads can be converted into successful sales if you stick with this plan.

If this is the case, how should I market my products?
Start with labeling and presentation. Try visiting a mall and assess which stores you would like to go in and those that you will just skip and never look at. Aside from the products that interest you, the appearance of the store actually will affect your overall judgment. You wouldn’t want to buy from an untidy and dark store. The colorful, well-lit, and accommodating store setups win in the retail game. This is the same with online marketing. You do not want to be a going to a website with ultra small letters, missing links and links that bring you nowhere. You want sites that are easy to use and navigate. This is the basic concept of this type of marketing campaign: make your goods look good.

Start thinking like a leader and stop being a sales person
This will help a lot. Start by looking at a sales “lead” as someone who is in need of guidance in selling and would often go to you for help. Do not overpower them with cliché sales techniques and pitches. Listen to their needs and frustrations. Empathize with their situations and walk them through a powerful solution to their problem. Create the need – this is your job. This is the reason why a lot of blogs are becoming popular nowadays as they appear to be a “support” group kind of website instead of a site that does nothing but sell.

The most effective businesses succeed because they work based on what their customers want. This is the most essential component of attraction marketing: listen to your customers and start working on what they want and need. This will help your business move to the next level and become a more mature institution that does not only focus on profit creation but with an undisputed and most admired customer experience.

Home Business Success: Just Believe!

Henry Ford was born hereImage by bowbrick via Flickr

Every year millions of people think about becoming a part of a home based business or working from home in some way. However of those millions very few will ever actually do it. Why? Because for many people their belief system just isn’t high enough.

Oh sure they would LIKE to make money from home, spend more time with their kids or their spouses. They’d LIKE to live in the house of their dreams or drive a nicer car but they don’t believe in themselves or a company enough to ever actually do it.

Let me let you in on a little secret. If you want success… and I mean TRUE success in a home based business you simply have to BELIEVE! Believe in what exactly? Well it’s really a few different things.

Number one you have to believe in yourself. This is the number one most important thing in ANY home based business. If you don’t believe in yourself you won’t have success… PERIOD. I know that sounds harsh but it’s simply the truth. When you believe in yourself you can do amazing things, things that most people could never imagine.

Henry Ford once said “If you think you can, you’re right. If you think you can’t, you’re right.”

It really is all up to you!

Along with belief in yourself you also have to have a strong belief in your industry. While so many people think about starting a home based business every year very few people really believe that it’s even possible to make money from home in a network marketing business.

Regardless of what your friends, parents, or co-workers say… NETWORK MARKETING WORKS! Yes, there are bad companies out there and no, you won’t get rich overnight. However network marketing as a business model works and can create HUGE incomes for people who are willing to put in the effort.

If you join a home based business with the mindset that it’s going to fail guess what… IT’S GOING TO FAIL! Just like you have to believe in yourself you have to believe in the network marketing industry as a whole! When you work for it, it WILL work for you!

If you’re having a hard time getting your head around the idea of network marketing as a profitable business model think of your job now. It’s probably structured just like a network marketing company.

First there is you… and then your boss… and then your boss’s boss… and then the person above them and so on. Sounds like a pyramid right?

Now is your job a scam? Of course not, but it is structured just like a traditional home based business. The only difference is that as a regular employee you don’t get to choose when you get a raise, when you go on vacation, where you work or how hard you work. In a home based business all those choices are yours! Instead of building wealth for someone else you are building wealth for you!

Finally you have belief in your company and product. That is why choosing your company is so important. You have to find a company you believe in and a product that you can market and be proud of.

So many people join a business and never pay any attention to what they are actually marketing. They then find out that the product isn’t any good and they can’t market it to anyone, then they become discouraged and soon after they quit.

To avoid all of this frustration you need to find a company and a product that you can be truly proud of. When you do this marketing will be much, much easier and the money will come.

When you believe in yourself, the industry and your company you will have the winning recipe to have true success working from home.

Network Marketing: How To Deal With The Job Snobs

Employment websiteImage via Wikipedia

All network marketers know that one of the hardest things to deal with when you’re new in your business is dealing with people who think you should get a “real job.” I’ve personally never really understood it. I means what’s so great about a job anyway?

Is it the stability? Well not in today’s world. More and more people are losing their jobs and it’s getting to the point where almost no one is safe.

Is it the time freedom? No. The Money? No, well not unless you’re one of the few lucky ones but even then you probably don’t have much time to enjoy it.

Is it the boss? The co-workers? The week of vacation you get every year?

What exactly is it that makes a job so great? And why are people so dead set on everyone having one.

The honest truth is that if you want to be rich and at the same time have the time and the freedom to enjoy it you have to own your own business. So you might say… well owning a business IS a job. I respectfully disagree. Actually owning your own business is nothing like a job because you’re calling all the shots and you’re reaping all the rewards.

So what should you say when people tell you to “just go get a job”… I just tell them I don’t want one. In fact I’m never going to have another job for the rest of my life and I’m excited about that!

Job snobs are everywhere and they are all about making you feel bad because you’re doing something that’s a little bit out of the box. There is just something about people doing things that are different that freaks people out! I really don’t understand it but it’s true.

In fact… and I find this sort of funny. It’s usually the people who are always complaining about their job that want to tell you to run out and get one, isn’t that just a little odd?

Become a part of the jobless revolution and ignore the people in your life who will tell you to be average. Working for yourself is absolutely the best thing you can do for you and your family so don’t let anyone stand in the way of that!

6 reasons why working for “the man” sucks

Paycheck (film)Image via Wikipedia

If you have a regular job like most people do you know what I know… working for “the man” absolutely sucks! There is nothing like owning your own business and being your own boss and once you know just how great it is you’ll never go back to corporate America. However, for those of you who haven’t experienced the true bliss of being boss free here are a few reasons why working for “the man” or any man sucks!

6. Would you like some bread with that traffic jam

Long commutes are one of the worst things about having a job. When you work from home your commute is from the bed to the chair!

5. Paycheck… what paycheck?

When you have a job they can pay you whatever they want to pay you. Whether it’s what you’re really worth or not. When you work for yourself you can decide to make more or less. Want a raise? Just give yourself one!

4. Two words…. Dress code

Showing up to work in your pajama pants is probably not an option at your job. When you work from home ever day is casual Friday. VERY casual Friday.

3. Office politics

If you’re like me you’re not about sucking up to the boss to get ahead however in many work places that’s exactly what you have to do to become successful. If you’ve ever been passed over for a promotion you know you deserved you know just how annoying office politics can be!

2. No job is safe

As much as your boss will probably tell you that you’re a valuable assent to the company the truth is that you could literally lose your job at any time. Many people go into fields that they believe will help them have more job security but at the end of the day when you work for someone else you can never be 100% sure that your job is safe… ever!

And the number one reason why working for “the man” sucks is…

1. Your time isn’t your time!

When you have a job they own every single part of you but especially your time. Wouldn’t it be great to go to a movie in the middle of the day with your spouse? Or take a 3 week long vacation? Or just sleep in on a Wednesday?

When you work from home your time is truly your time and that’s something you’ll never be able to get when you work a job.

So that’s it! I hope you found this list enlightening. Working for yourself is the only way to go. I can’t wait to see you there!

Prospecting: Is Desperation Written All Over Your Face?

SANTA BARBARA, CA - MAY 07: Nancy Cook (R) and...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

Sometimes you don’t even know it but you can be turning people off from your business if you’re giving off and air of desperation. People don’t want to be in business with someone who seems like they are desperate for people to join them. So the question you have to ask yourself is… is desperation written all over my face?

Building a business can be really hard. Sometimes we want a breakthrough so badly that we’re willing to say just about anything to a prospect in order to get them to join us. However, when you give off the vibe of being desperate it really pushes people away.

Think of it this way. Have you ever been to a job interview and had the person who was interviewing you practically BEG for you to join them? No way! Every person I’ve ever interviewed with has had a ton of confidence and a “I don’t really care if you join us or not” attitude.

Now I’m not saying that you should make people think you don’t care about them, but there is defiantly something to be said for not giving the prospect all the power. So many of us are so eager to get a sign up that we’ll be nervous, we’ll try to get every answer right… we act like we’re the one who’s interviewing for a position!

This all comes back to the idea of us not valuing what we have as a home business owner. We have a way to change the life of the person sitting in front of us and we don’t have to feel ashamed, embarrassed or nervous about sharing it!

If anything we should speak with confidence to everyone around us about how great this opportunity is and how it’s literally changing peoples lives. Don’t let desperation for a new sign up turn the people you speak to off, have confidence in what you have to offer.

Benefits Of Community Based Network Marketing

Community based network marketing looks like it is a permanent fixture in the network marketing industry and will continue to draw in thousands of MLMers eager for success over many years to come.

Ask yourself where you will be and let me ask the question – have you attempted network marketing in the past only to fail? Or, have you attempted to succeed several times only to fail each time?

The fact is that there is no such thing as a fail-proof business and this is also the case for network marketing. Failure rates are high with over 90% of those starting a network marketing business failing or quitting after only three months.

Community Based Network Marketing

You may be starting to wonder if network marketing is in fact the right method for you to assist you into gaining your financial aspirations. Well, we can tell you that it is. In truth, the high rate of failure in the industry is not really surprising. Many people are drawn to the industry each day, but by false promises and lies.

These people are promised that anybody can run this kind of business and when they join their business will be created and managed for them. Even worse, they are told that everybody they meet is a potential prospect.

Here is one essential fact you won’t want to forget – not everybody is cut out to be a network marketer. To be successful you need a fair amount of skill and most people don’t have all the necessary skills that are needed to run a successful business. Okay, so goal setting and believing in what you are doing is going to help, but unless action is being taken nothing will occur and the business will never get off the ground.

It is also a fact that less than 10% of people have the ability to sell or even like selling. Network marketing revolves around being able to sell and also requires a certain amount of skills in the recruiting arena. You’ll also need to possess motivational skills and training skills. And with today’s new methods using online tools and real estate you’ll need strong writing skills and a good knowledge of the Internet.

That might sound very daunting to anybody just starting out in network marketing and to some it may even seem like an impossible task. You may feel you don’t fit in with any of the skills mentioned. Don’t worry.

The great thing about community based network marketing is that you work to your strengths. If you have good writing skills then you can choose to write articles that revolve around your chosen business or content for your website. If you have a background or interest in selling, then you are probably a natural salesperson.

If you are good with people you might want to try your hand at recruitment.
This is the reason why community based network marketing is evolving and changing the dynamics of the network marketing industry. Individuals all play to their strengths and work towards a common aspiration – success for everybody! It might just be the strongest network marketing plan around.

What's A Best Rated Home Business

A Day In the Lemonade BusinessImage by scimanal via Flickr

Trying to find the best rated home business can be futile unless you are determined to find what you are searching for.

Many people attempting to start running a business from home will face problems as they do not have the necessary skills. Okay, there are great benefits to working at home, but if you don’t plan your methods and approach carefully you will be jumping into the deep end.

Your business will sink without a trace within months!

Best Rated Home Businesses

One of the major issues of working from home is that many become embroiled in paralysis analysis. Moving away from a job role where you were managed and followed a daily schedule and then deciding to start out on your own is a big transition.

Here is the issue. Are you able to apply the motivation you need in order to complete the tasks that will make your business a success? Basically, you need to be able to motivate yourself to put in the required amount of hours. Nobody else is going to be around to tell you what to do and if you don’t put in the effort you will see your bottom line start to slide.

Many network marketers are concerned about this. Most will dive head first into what they think is a best rated home business and will then struggle as they realise that the promise they were given about the business being built for them does not hold much water.

All of a sudden, one network marketer needs to take on the roles of recruiter, sales person, trainer and motivator. This can only lead to them feeling overwhelmed and frustrated and inevitably they will quit the business.

What happened to the support that was promised to them when they joined? This promise starts to weaken before their signature dries on the paperwork and their payment is cashed.

However, all is not lost. There are answers for those seeking to work from home and looking for the best rated home business. The solution is referred to as community based network marketing.

Best Rated Home Business Tip

These days, community based network marketing is a very young concept, but it works on the principle of empowering members to work to their strongest skillset. For example, if you possess strong marketing skills, you should concentrate on marketing strategies.

Those possessing good motivation skills, but who do not possess solid skills in the sales arena, will be given mentor tasks.

This concept gives striking results. People who are able to work to their strengths are able to pull together and great success for the entire group.

This method is very powerful and with the combination of skills and effort means that goals are reached at a quicker rate than if an individual were to attempt to run their own network marketing business alone.

Make Decisions Based On Facts Not Emotions

CharlotteImage by Gattou/Lucie/ in and out via Flickr

Running a business can be fun, but many successful business owners have come to a tough realization that in a business environment, they have no friends. They have employees that are dedicated to the company and they may have customers that are loyal, but the bottom line of the business is the prime concern they have to watch. One of the biggest obstacles they face in the say to day business operations is their own emotions and they need to leave them at home when they head for the office.

For instance, a business owner is approached by their financial expert who tells them they have to cut half of their workers loose in order to meet expenses. This can be an emotional time for the owner as on one hand, many of the workers are loyal to the company and are very productive. On the other hand the company needs to be able to run leaner to make ends meet.

Simply based on the emotions of keeping the business operating, the solution may seem obvious in cutting half the workforce. However, before making that call the owner needs to look at all the facts and not just the financial ones. Questions need to be asked such as how long will this lack of income last? If we layoff employees, how much will be spent on unemployment compensation? What are other options in cutting expenses, such as is the finance guy really necessary?

If half of the workforce is let go, what will be the effect on productivity and customer service and will the remaining employees be able to handle everything without the additional help? After thoroughly understanding all of the available options and the effects of instituting any suggested changes it is found that half will need to be let go, then that is the right decision for everyone.

Decisions have to be based on how the outcome will affect everyone involved and not just the ones being laid off. Sure, it is a tough decision but one of the responsibilities of a business owner is being able to make the tough calls, knowing it is the right one for the business as well as for the remaining workers. Unfortunately, there is no hard and fast rule about which employees will need to go away. Seniority may be the deciding factor, but some businesses use productivity instead.

For example, a new hire may produce as much or more as an employee with several years experience, the new hire may be a better fit. Owners should never look at payroll as a deciding factor as getting rid of some of the higher paid, long-term employees is also getting rid of loyalty as well as experience.

The decision should be based on who can offer the most to the business, a decision based on facts rather than the emotions of who needs the job more. From a cold fact point of view, if the worker needs the job that bad, they have probably been a consistently hard, productive asset to the company.

How To Work From Home

violetteImage by togni.franco via Flickr

You have probably, by now, seen all of the reasons that you would like to work from home, and you probably recognize some of them as the exact reasons you are thinking about doing so. However, getting started at a work from home job is always the hardest part because you have to worry so much about what you are going to be doing at this job. Can you find a work from home job? Or will you be doing what you are already doing? There are several steps that you can take to make sure that when you do find a work from home job you are able to do so easily and that the job is going to fit your needs exactly.

First of all, you should take inventory of your job right now. Do you like what you are doing, or do you hate it? Are you only working where you are because that is the way you have to make money, or is it something that you really enjoy but you would rather work from home? This is the first question that you have to ask yourself so that you will be able to work from home as easily as possible.

If you like what you are doing ,and you like your job, the first thing that you should do is sit down with your boss and see if there is any way that you can do your job at home. Some employers are really going to latch onto this because it has been proven that people who work from home are often much better able to do their work and to get it done sooner. Therefore, your boss might allow you to do what you are doing now from the comfort of your own home. You might still have to go to the office occasionally for meetings or to do other things, but if you talk to your boss you might find out that you are able to do what you are doing in a much more easy way. The other thing that you could do if your boss is not happy with you working form home is to look for another employer that will employ you to do what you are doing now, except will allow you to do it from home. This is something that is also possible for you because it will end up being very easy for you to find a job where you are working from home.

If you do not like your job now and can't do it at home anyway, you should start to look for work from home jobs. Remember that this is going to be a search that might take awhile, so don't quit what you are doing in the meantime. Start with something that you love to do and branch out from there. Be careful about work from home jobs, and be sure that you are able to explore the possibility before you sign up for anything. With a little bit of luck and hard work you'll find the perfect job for you.

Starting Out To Work At Home

So you hate your regular, 9-5p.M. ? And you just won’t take your young one to a baby care while you go to work? Is it a case of wanting freedom for yourself and with your finances? Relax, start out with the right steps, and you will soon be working at home.

When you decide to work at home, all you need is to be quite careful. For there are scammers out there who will take advantage of you because you may not have followed some ground rules. First, do not swallow the lie that working online from your home office is that easy. Or that you will soon be damn rich without much of an effort. No! Set the foundation based on what do you want to do. Which is the right home job for you? Remember, genuine work at home or online jobs do not require you to pay anything to the employer(s).

Secondly, identify your strong and weak points pertaining to your character and work habits. Ask yourself for instance, ‘am I proactive?’ what this means is that to be successful working from home, you will need to be a person who does not wait for the prompt to go. You take things upon yourself and go. Are you a good planner and organizer? If your home office is littered, the desk your computer sits on smacks of disorganization, ask yourself if you are ready for a work at home job. Add on to that the question of high speed internet connection in the house. is it predictable and reliable?

Thirdly, you may urgently have to kick out the 9-5 ‘syndrome’. First, ensure that you put in extra effort to work outside those hours as well. This is your business, right? So you better put in the hours and the more the effort, the more the chances of succeeding, the more you learn even how to make more from your home office.

If you have ever taken risks before, you are a step ahead. Starting out to work at home needs you to take lots of risks. Risks with clients, risks with being put down for ‘unsatisfactory’ by clients. Risk-taking goes hand in hand with self-motivation and an intrinsic drive to succeed at whatever you are doing. Do you accomplish tasks without being told? Do you handle them to client’s needs? How about ensuring quality? You have to be quite keen because clients will not just take poorly done work.

Starting out to work from home also requires the understanding that you are on your own now and perhaps there is need to cut down on the budget. Buy only that which is essential to your work; remain focused. Apart from a decent computer and internet connection at your home office and perhaps a chest of drawers, try to cut down on your non-essentials budget.

One important thing to not is that working at home is just like any other job and there are challenges. Be ready to meet them head on, and success is yours.

Helping People through your Work at Home Job

Some work at home jobs sell things. Some jobs provide a service. Other jobs, though, help people. If you are the type of person who loves to help others then there is a whole new area of working at home that you may be interested in.

Helping people while making money is something that is perfect for the internet. The technology allows you to connect to people all over, which gives you a great customer base. You also can rely on the fact that there is always someone out there who needs a little help.

Not all About the Money

Sometimes people work because they love their job and think nothing of the money. While work at home advice jobs can pay rather well, most people jump on them because they give a sense of satisfaction that can not be found with other jobs.

Advice jobs give you more than a paycheck because you are truly helping people. Everyday you will encounter people who will greatly benefit from what you have to offer them. You are really making a difference and doing it from the comfort of your own home.

Giving Advice

There are a range of ways you can give advice. Some companies offer general advice to anyone. Other companies offer specific advice. Common advice topics include love and relationships, money and even fortune telling.

Almost anyone can give advice. In some cases though you will need skills or a degree to work for a company. In order to get hired you will almost always be tested. You will have to do a test run where someone form the company asks you a question and you have to answer. If they like your answer then you are hired.

There is little to no training for this type of job. The advice job can be on the telephone, through live chat or through email. There are many different companies that hire people for this type of job so your opportunities are almost endless. There are almost always openings to be filed in this industry.

Finding the right work at home job

Today, more and more individuals are looking for a way to make a better living. Work at home jobs are becoming more and more popular for just this reason. People are tired of working the nine to five jobs that seem to be going nowhere. They are tired of answering to other individuals and even tired of making the morning and evening commutes that are necessary in most people's everyday lives. Having a job that allows people to work from home, as long as it is a lucrative one, can mean saying goodbye to all of the things that that make the daily grind such a headache in the first place.
Work at home positions vary depending on what industry they are in. If you take a look online, you can most certainly find these types of positions in many different fields.

Employers are seeing the need for hiring individuals that can work at home, rather than fill a seat in their office buildings. The expense for hiring and employing an in-house individual is always more expensive. Hiring individuals that can work from the comfort of their own homes can even mean that they can hire more individuals than would fit into their office space and conduct even more business than they usually could.

Many individuals in the writing and photography fields choose to work out of their own homes and simply sell themselves as contract laborers. For the individual, this can mean choosing whom they want to work for and whom they do not. It also means that they can decide on exactly what their services should be worth rather than taking a wage that is offered to them by an employer. These freelance individuals can either complete the work they are looking to sell before hand and then find an interested buyer or they may contract with someone to do a particular job and then complete the job at hand. Either way, they are still running their own work at home business and can do so according to their own rules.
Work at home jobs, such as medical transcription, are gaining huge popularity as of late. The medical field is always in need of competent individuals to transcribe medical histories and reports. For the person with the knowledge of medical terminology and facts, this can be the perfect work at home position. Just as in the medical profession, there is also a need for legal transcriptionists to transcribe legal information for many attorneys.

Work at home jobs can also come from ideas that an individual may have themselves. If they have a certain expertise, then it can be possible to turn it into a business. Many individuals have started their own home business by simply taking an activity or hobby that they love and finding a way to market it. This is truly what having a work at home business is about; finding what type of job is the best fit and then finding a way to make it work.

Dealing with Unsteady Work as an Independent Contractor

Being an independent contractor comes with advantages and it comes with disadvantages. One of the major disadvantages of being an independent contractor is the issue of steady work. By definition as an independent contractor you are not guaranteed work and you only get paid for work you do. You generally work on a contract basis, so if a company does not have work or they do not want to use you then you could go without work, which means you go without pay.

Reasons for Unsteady Work

Unsteady work loads are a part of being an independent contractor. The reason for this is that the company uses independent contractors because it makes the most financial sense for them to do this instead of hiring employees. Many times it makes more sense because they do not have the work load to support full time employees.

The company may have busy seasons where they will be super loaded down with work and then have off seasons where they may have little or no work. Generally, with employees the company will have to either keep them busy or pay unemployment. With independent contractors, though, they do not have to do this so it makes more sense.

You have to understand that as an independent contractor you are not guaranteed work, so the company can use you as they please. You can accept or reject work and they will not hold that against you because until you sign a contract you are not technically working for them.

The Best Way to Handle Unsteady Work

You have to learn how to set up your work load so that you are not left high and dry. This is especially important if you are working at home as your primary or a major part of your income. You have to think of ways to ensure that you are not going to be left with nothing to do.

There are two great ways to help ensure that you will always stay busy –

Work for multiple companies: The best thing about being an independent contractor is you are free. You can work when you want and you can work for whoever you want. As an independent contractor the companies you work for can not tell you that you have to work only for them. This allows you to work for a few different companies so that you have larger work load from which to choose.

Work in a couple industries: If you have talents in two different fields then work for companies in each field. This is a great idea because when one industry is having a lack of work you can still rely on the other industry.

You are ultimately responsible for finding work and keeping yourself busy. When you do not work you do not make money, so that should be motivation enough for you to learn ways to avoid lack of work due to an unsteady work load. Just be smart and you will find you can avoid unsteady work.

Want To Work At Home? Be Ready For These Challenges…and More!

If you want to start out and earn working from home, the old adage that you should look before you leap, makes sense. Actually, a lot of sense. The Internet has opened up a big loophole for cons of all types to thrive, partly due to the anonymity with the technology at use. You cannot tell someone truly is who she or he says they are, because you probably have no way of proving it. Therein lies the problem. How do you tell a fake from genuine?

A simple common-sense rule is always handy in some cases: if the deal seems so good to be true, most likely it is just that – too good to be true. Therefore, make sure you are careful. Ask yourself who on earth can pay you $4000 a day for doing what seems like grade-school work advertised and placed on websites in adult language. Furthermore, why should you pay an employer to be eligible to work for them? It beats logic, doesn’t it?

Some challenges have no relation to scams, but with the home office itself. How do you, for example, deal with a relative or needy child who thinks that you are there for them just because you are at home? In addition, what about organizing your time and slotting in the household chores in your overall schedule? These two are real challenges because they might mean you are being distracted from your work, yet they are essential elements of your life.

Sometimes you are at work in the home office and suddenly your computer or your Internet connection fails. Perhaps at the same time, you really had some urgent work to go to a client. This may lead to a mental strain and stress when you have to stare helplessly at a machine or some gadget whose repair you are not qualified to handle.

Another common challenge comes in over-working yourself. Most home-workers give too much of their energy and time to work, sometimes isolating themselves socially. There is simply too much urge to do more and consequently, earn more.

There may also be a problem when it comes to setting boundaries. Just what is the boundary between ‘home’ and ‘work’? When can you say you are at home tending to your child(ren) or at work? The problem is when you work at home, many things are bound to happen around you. Like a child crying for your attention. You surely cannot tell them, ‘get off! I’m busy’.

Furthermore, talking of children, childcare has been shown to be one major challenge for those working at home. For some reason, most mothers (and increasingly, fathers) who say they want to give their children more time, work when these children are asleep. However, wait until you have a huge project and the child refuses to sleep. What to do?

Working at home can be fun, yet immensely challenging. The best anyone can do is to learn to expect these challenges and devise ways to surmount them when they rear their heads. You will be lucky you did expect it next time a problem arises during your home ‘office hours’.

Never Hear "No" Again?

Conversation with a Devil album coverImage via Wikipedia

Do you find it hard to talk to prospects on the phone, getting hung up on, or handling objections?

I used to be like that, constantly taking the prospects that I would generate on the internet and vomit my business opportunity to them.

Time after time, I would basically get laughed at followed by am immediate "Click".

I just couldn't figure it out. What was I doing wrong? There were so many people out there that were effortlessly sponsoring people on the phone.

I did this for what seemed like a lifetime. I wasn't getting anywhere with my business, basically sponsoring one or two every now and then.

But then I found something that changed the way I talked to prospects forever. It was a video interview with Mike Dillard, and master recruiter Mark Wieser.

In this video Mark get grilled by Mike on how he is able to personally sponsor over 254 reps in one year and how he is able to do it with such ease.

I figured out that I needed to change the way that I was talking to the prospects. I needed to qualify them to see if they are right for my business, not if they would be interested in joining.

I also figured out that I am the boss, I need to control the situation, I am interviewing my prospects to see if they would be good enough to be part of my business.

Basically think of it as if you were the manager interviewing to hire a new employee.

By changing the way that I approach the conversation and the attitude that I have in the conversation, I am now not getting hung up on. I am sponsoring more than ever. Prospects are actually thanking me for the conversations that we have.

Sponsoring and talking to prospects doesn't have to be hard, frustrating, or filled with rejection.

All you need to know is how to do it the right way, the fun way, from someone that knows how to do it and do it well.

So if you would like to learn how I overcame my fear of talking to prospects on the phone, now sponsor more than ever, and how I never hear the word no again, then you need to get your hands on this free 1 hour video interview.
