In the first article I went over exactly how to go about finding the home based business that’s right for you. So if for some reason you missed that article I recommend going back and checking it out. However, if you’re already involved in a business or you know what business you plan on joining this is the right place for you!
Once you’ve found the home based business that you want to be a part of the most important thing is marketing, marketing, marketing. After all what good is a home based business if you don’t have anyone to tell about it?
Many companies recommend that you buy lists of leads. People that you have to call and read a script to. Here is why I don’t like this method. It’s old and tired and people are sick to death of getting sales calls. Most of the time you catch them at a bad time or they’re not really interested and you end up wasting your time and the time of others.
I don’t like the idea of sending out a big bulk email either. This is because people get so much spam to their inbox that most of your emails will probably end up being deleted anyway. It’s just not effective.
The best way to talk to a prospect is to have THEM contact YOU! So how do you do that? Well you generate your own leads and you can do it all for free both on and offline.
Here are several of the best ways to generate huge amounts of people to talk to about your home based business. These methods will not only help you find people but people that are actually interested! What a breathe of fresh air that will be!
As I list these I’m going to separate them into two categories: online and offline. I’m also not going to be able to elaborate as much as I’d like to on each technique but these will at least give you some great ideas and you can work on perfecting them one at a time!
Offline:
Sizzle Cards - drop these babies all over town. Leave them as tips, at the dry cleaners, on people’s cars. As long as you use a catchy phrase they can work for you.
Car Magnets - This is a good way to get the word out about your business around your local area.
T-Shirts/ Buttons - They can draw attention to you and get a conversation going about your business.
3 Foot Rule - If you have the guts to talk to the lady in front of you in line at the grocery store we salute you!
Flyers - Either on bulletin boards around town or door to door.
Door Hangers - have them made and pass them out door to door. Hey, it’s good cardio!
Signs - Create signs and put them out along the sides of the road (think garage sale signs) it takes a lot of work but it can be worth it when done correctly.
Online:
Myspace - The grand daddy of social networking. Every marketer should have a Myspace page.
Facebook - Post articles, videos, join groups and update your status. This is social networking at it’s best.
Twitter - Probably the most easy to use of all the social networking sites. A huge favorite among network marketers.
Craigslist - Free online classified ads!
Backpage - Like a less popular Craigslist, still very effective though
Yahoo Answers - Answer people’s questions about working from home and they’ll probably visit your website in return!
Squidoo - Create your own lenses on any topic you want. (Tip: this is a great way to get on the first page of Google!)
Hub pages - Squidoos twin brother!
Social Bookmarking - These sites allow you to draw more attention to things that are already online. Like your website, blog, articles, or Youtube videos.
Article Marketing - By far the best method of online marketing. This is perfect for someone who’s just starting out on the internet.
Forum Marketing - There are countless numbers of home business forums and message boards online. They’re all free and they’ll get you really great results.
Blog Marketing - This can be both setting up and promoting your own blog and leaving comments on other people’s blogs!
Video Marketing - People like their information spoon fed to them and video marketing is a great, free way to do that. Also, sites like Revver, Metacafe and Youtube get huge numbers of visitors each and every day!
Press Releases - They can be really beneficial to your business just make sure you take the time and write them properly!
Pod casts - Create your own pod casts on any topic relevant to working from home. Tight niches do really well with pod casts so think “The Stay at Home Mom Podcast” or “The Broke College Student Podcast”
Pay Per Click - This is the only thing on this list that isn’t free (or really, really cheap) but we felt we needed to mention it because for some people PPC is a great way to market online. Just be careful of your budget and start out slow otherwise you might end up spending a lot of money and getting very little.
The list could go on and on but hopefully I’ve given you lots to think about. You can’t have network marketing without… MARKETING! So learn each one of these methods inside out and remember the best way to learn something is to start doing it. Don’t wait. Take action right away!
Look out for part three of these series where we talk about working with your team and leading them to victory!
