7 Things That Will Destroy Your Home Based Business That You Might Not Even Know You’re Doing!

Nobody would sabotage their home based business on purpose! However sometimes we can do things that we don’t even realize are hurting our business! Here are my top 7 things that can really hurt your home based business that you might not even know you’re doing. Just remember that if you are doing any of these things it’s never too late to stop!

1. Not talking to your family or friends about your business

People can sometimes be freaked out about telling their friends or family about their home based business. However, if you don’t tell the people around you about your new business it can seem like you’re hiding something or that you’re ashamed of your business and that can do you a whole lot more harm than good. Don’t bug your friends or family but at least tell them about it and let them decide for themselves!

2. Not setting your goals high enough or not setting goals at all!

If you don’t have goals (or you do but they’re too small) how do you ever expect to get where you want to go. Every big business has goals that they want to meet in a weekly, monthly and yearly time period. You should have the same for your home based business. And don’t just have them in your head. Write them down!

3. Making jokes that belittle you or your business

Sometimes when you’re uncomfortable about something you tend to mock it in a joking way. However, that can actually really hurt your business. You want people to take you seriously, even if it’s just friends and family. So don’t make jobs that could belittle you or your new business.

4. Slamming other companies

Everyone thinks that their home based business is the best. However, when you bash other network marketing companies you bash the entire industry. Half the battle is getting the general public to accept network marketing as a legitimate form of business. So when you bash another company you actually hurt your own.

5. Spending too much time on forums or social networking sites

MLM forums, Facebook or Twitter can all be great places to market your business and learn some things along the way. Just be careful that you’re not wasting time when you could be doing something else. These things can be awesome but they can also waste a lot of your time if you let them. So don’t get sucked in!

6. Not setting business hours or a schedule

Just because you work from home doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have some structure! You need that if you want to run a profitable and successful business. Maybe once you’ve reached your goals you can be more lax but in the beginning you should have a schedule laid out for yourself to help keep you on track!

7. Putting up a front about your success

You don’t have to pretend that you never have problems in your business. Being vulnerable makes you more human. It’s ok if you mess up from time to time. Try not to present yourself or your business as perfect because that is a big red flag for people.
